Spotify Plans to Add a New Feature Inspired by TikTok

Spotify is apparently working on a new remixing feature that shows a great deal of promise. Many believe that it could potentially be better than TikTok tunes.

This feature will reportedly be only available to their premium package subscribers, also known as “Music Pro”. While this news has been circulating all over the net some sources say that this feature is still in the developmental stage.

Spotify Goes Head to Head with TikTok

Users alter a large portion of music used in TikTok videos. It seems like every other viral TikTok sound is either sped up or slowed down. This speed and pitch modification has led many artists to release sped-up and slowed versions of their originals. Some popular examples include Isabel LaRosa’s “I am Yours” sped-up version. There is also Ghost’s “Mary on a Cross” slowed and reverbed version which trended on TikTok last year.

This upcoming feature shows that Spotify cares about its users’ preferences and suggestions.

What About the Royalties?

Musicians and popular labels have always been victims of things like plagiarim and copyright. Unfortunately, TikTok, along with other similar platforms take no accountability when it comes to posting manipulated tunes. More often than not, people alter the original music without any legal permit and even earn money from it. Spotify plans to address this issue using a different approach.

The remixes and mashups created by subscribers will stay within the platform and won’t even be sharable to other users. This will help performers earn money on their remixes, as they will be part of the original track. This will open more streams of income for artists and give them full credit for their work.

Making Remixes Seamless

With Spotfiy’s remix feature, subscribers will have a chance to be creative and modify their favorite songs without causing any financial damage to the rightsholder. Users can create their own remixes and even save them to listen to whenever they want.

Like Tiktok tunes, Spotfiy users will be able to alter the speed and pitch of the music and mix different tracks. This feature has the potential to be ideal for users who want to put their DJ skills on display.
